Petside Picks: Pet Friendly Hotels
Petside has found the most pet friendly hotels in the nation! These locations offer the most amenities and the best service to their four-legged guests of any hotels in the US.
From Los Angeles to New York City, your pet can have a first-class experience away from home, no matter how far you travel.
So next time you vacation with your pet, check out these locations to ensure a great stay for you and your furry friend!
1) The James Hotel
Chicago, IL
Why we love it: This boutique hotel in the Windy City covers all of the necessities, plus amazing extras. A full pet spa menu, pet rain gear, Primehouse Pet Menu and walking services are just a handful of their offerings. Our favorite amenity is the available in-room training sessions with an award winning animal behavioralist.
Cons: The room sizes may be a squeeze for an extra large or very energetic dog, but the provided "pet tourist map" shows you all the great pet friendly places to take your four-legged travel companion.
2) The W Tuscany
New York, NY
Why we love it: Located close to a dog park, your pooch won't get cabin fever. The W will provide a cake if your stay falls on your pet's birthday. This hotel also puts your animal friend's safety first with "Bow-ow" and "Meow-ow" Boxes containing pet first aid kits.
Cons: Extra cleaning fees for those staying with pets.
3) The Hotel Monaco
Denver, CO
Why we love it: Your pet will be greeted with its name on the pet guest welcome board and a Pampered Pet basket. The Hotel Monaco offers walking and pet sitter services on site and there are no additional charges for pet guests. The Hotel Monaco has also pledged significant donations to local animal shelters. An added bonus: the hotel will provide a goldfish to stay in your room if you must leave your pet at home.
Cons: No pet spa services.
4) Bowen's By The Bay's
Hampton Bays, NY
Why we love it: Animals of all species and sizes are welcome at this Hamptons resort. Pets are free to romp and play on four acres of property. They also have house-like cottages, which may make your pet more comfortable.
Cons: No grooming or walking services.
5) Hyatt Regency Century Plaza
Los Angeles, California
Why we love it: Give your dog the celebrity treatment at the LA Hyatt. Dogs receive their own Pawsport with vital info and stamp boxes to track visits that add up to pet prizes. Stainless steel bowls, plush dog beds and a "haute-dog" menu ensure your pooch will be spoiled.
Cons: Cats are not accepted.

We live in SC, and hurricane season is upon us once again. If we have to evacuate, there is no time to find a pet friendly hotel and of course no one will make a reservation ahead of time unless we have dates - we are given very little notice. Anyhow, I have two Boykin Spaniels (the SC state dog) and an English Springer Spaniel. All I have seen in dog-friendly hotels/motels is that they allow "one dog per room." This poses a giant problem for us and a lot of other people. Any suggestions as to what we can do about this problem???

We traveled from SC to MI and back recently and found that Motel 6 & Super 8 motels DO accept dogs ( one per room, etc. , but that there were "riders" --- additional costs ( for the dog ) and POOR quality motels were the norm ( in those motels where we stayed )-- on-the-other-hand, the folks who worked in the motels we selected were very nice.
We're removing both Motel 6 & Super 8 from our list of "acceptable" options. We have had good luchk with CERTAIN Hampton Inns in the past, and we probably should have checked-out that option with greater care -- and will do so in the future. HT
