Petside Readers Share their Embarrassing Pet Stories!
An Associated Press-Petside.com poll recently found that 95% of pet owners say their pets are "very or somewhat well behaved."
However, the same poll showed that more than 1-in-10 owners are often embarrassed by their pets' behavior!
Additionally, 76% of owners who have taken their pets to professional obedience trainers said it was worth the money. (Check out free training videos here).
Sounds like the pets in the following stories could use a little obedience school!

"Nothing beats your dogs running out into the living room with your panties and handing them over to your guests for tug of war." - Ashley E Sanderson
"Years ago, my boyfriend at the time had a friend of his visit us. He was not a very nice person, and I believe my cat Max picked up on that. Max very politely and very quietly went up to this person, sniffed his leg a few times, turned around and sprayed him - a lot. That was the last time this person visited us. I loved that cat!" - Margaret Edmonds Chamberlain
"I was at the vet with my dog and he broke wind. People began to notice and when I said "the dog did it" everyone looked at me like, "sure he did lady!" - Susan Gougeon Klein
"I was in middle school spending the night at a friend's and had brought my puppy along with me. I left my suitcase open and was mingling with my friend's parents and other guests. My puppy came running up the stairs bumping into walls and knocking things over with panties on her head looking like captain underpants! The guys asked, "Whose panties are these?" I said "not mine!" Well I had forgotten that my mom writes my name on all of my underwear and socks! So there my name was on my panties over my puppies head. I was soo embarrassed!" - Valerie Armanda Gallegos
"My Doberman is a jumper and jumped on me at the groomers and my boob got exposed. I thought I was going to die with embarrassment!!!" - Nanditta Lomeli
"Our dog Shasta has always gotten car sick. As soon as she is inside the car, the drool starts. The very first time I took her to a dog park she was about 4 months old. By the time we got there, she was blowing bubbles and looked like a rabid dog! She continued to drool profusely, and the looks we got....I finally left. Our sensitive girl." - Denise Thompson
"My dog humped a teddy bear in front of dinner guests after dragging it in from the bedroom." - Yonda Michelle Nenzinane
"I was hoping to make a good impression when my big Lab mix scooted across the pale carpet and left a stinky brown anal sac fluid stripe moments before my mother-in-law arrived. Aw, well, I never liked her much anyway..." - Lisa MacDonald
"We live in an apartment building, and I had my 1-and-a-half year old Papillon, Gizmo, outside on my lunch break from work. One of the other couples in the building stopped to tell me how cute he was, how quiet and well behaved, as well. As they were finishing up the conversation, my leg started to feel really warm, and when I looked down, Mr. Cute, Quiet & Behaved had his leg hiked and was peeing all down my work pants."
- Leesa Henderson
"Maggie, my beautiful German Shepherd is an avid human butt sniffer, but she doesn't just give a little drive by sniff she goes for the whole colonoscopy effect. She also loves to stick her head up your dress to get a better perspective of your hiney. One day we were attending our Intermediate Obedience Class and walking behind a woman in a skirt before I could put 2 and 2 together she was up that ladies skirt going to town...needless to say we were all embarrassed except for Maggie." - Dena Louise Houk
"I was fostering a beautiful Pekingese. At an adoption show I was telling a potential adopter what a great dog he is- and he IS. He then lifted his leg on her." -Cheryl Durlak
"I was walking my big Rottweiler, Reef, when my neighbor passed by also walking his tiny Pug. We are chatting and the dogs, as usual, started sniffing each other. Reef is very kind and laid on the floor so the pug could sniff him all he wanted. Next thing I know, the pug is peeing on my "big Rottweiler"! My neighbor was probably more embarrassed than me, but I could not believe what a whimp my Reef was!" - Camelia Pomales-Coll
"I came home from my first trip away from home and my mini schnauzer girl, about 5 months old, stayed with "dad." I walked through the door and she was airborne into my arms, whimpering and kissing on me, and peed all down the front of my jeans. I was honored." - Kristyl Adams

ApprovedThe funniest thing I ever had my now deseased dog do, was when a visiting nurse came to the house, is I could not get the dog to stop humping her. The weird part as the dog had never done such a thing to any one before, and all I could do, was, ( Bad me) was laugh! The nurse was quite mad about it too, more me then the dog.

FlagI was moving in a truck my ex was driving.... we had "friends" driving directly behind us...they were very snooty and I did not much care for their High Attitude..... My car got nervous in the truck and as I tried to console him he made a "Dairy Queen" swirl of a poop in my hand.... I had no where to "put" it so I opened the Ryder window and tossed. it out... then proceeded to wipe my hands off..... later the snooty people behind us .... remarked.....

FlagWe often have international guests eating with us at home, and while we sat eating one night, Yoko, our chow-chow just started burbing merrily under the table. The Swiss Germans burst out laughing, but I was so embarrassed, as the host. Yoko still does it regularly, and not everybody thinks its funny, but I now laugh and apologise.

FlagMy teenage granddaughter who is a fashionista (lol) was visiting me for a week and on the way back from a shopping expedition, we pulled into my driveway and she opened the door and in jumped something which she thought was a squirrel from out of the trees, and she is screaming and the "thing" (turned out to be the neighbor's tiny dog) kept bouncing back and forth from me to her, peeing on the console and on her and all I could do was laugh. Needless to say, she was not amused.

FlagWhen my dachshund Lacie was only a puppy, she broke into one of my roommates room and snatched up a used condom from the floor. She then proceeded to run around with it until she gobbled it down. My boyfriend and I took her to the vet and immediately received the "Oh sure it was your roommates.." look.

FlagWith all truthfulness, I brought my pup to a "job interview". My puppy had been to the vets that morning and my job interview was immediately after. My good friend who was on the board during the interview process assured me it would be ok. The pup yelped so loudly that he had to be brought out to the conference table during my lengthy explanation of what my "long term goal" would be if I were to be hired. As I tried to stay focused with my verbiage, my poor little one was at the other end of the long conference table ready to jump out of the arms of the director who held him tightly. I only pictured coffee cups spilling and my pup running across the table to lick my face. That never happened, neither did the job, nor another interview EVER with my sweet, fully grown, lovable dog.
