Dog Breeds Ideal for Working Folks

Some dogs are better suited to the 9 to 5 lifestyle of their owners because they can handle being home alone for more than nine hours a day (when you factor in their owner's commute time). If you feel your work schedule and lifestyle will still accommodate a dog, consider one of the dog breeds that will adapt more easily.

French Bulldog - This is a loving breed who truly enjoys being around people. The French Bulldog needs minimal grooming, but training is always a good idea. A short walk and some playtime should be enough exercise to keep your French Bulldog happy.

Irish Wolfhound - Though large in stature, these dogs have a sweet disposition and crave human attention. Training is a must for this breed, but a few walks each day and getting to run off-leash a few times a week will be sufficient for this gentle giant.

Pug - This charming, sturdy dog is very friendly and thoroughly enjoys human company. Training can always be a plus, although basic obedience should be just fine with this breed. The pug is also ideal around children, though care should be taken to make sure younger ones are gentle around this breed. Also watch out for hot days because pugs have a low heat tolerance.
