Q&A with Most Lovable Shelter Pet Contest Winner Joey's Family
Petside.com caught up with contest winner Joey's new family, the Bakers, to see how he is doing in his new home and learn more about his adoption.
Petside: How was Joey's adoption process?
Baker Family: It was very enjoyable. I went into the SPCA by my house, and I just happened to look in on the dog side and there he was, first in line. I saw him with his one eye and that took me over and made me want him even more. I took a loan out the same day to adopt him.
Petside: How did you know Joey was the dog for you?
Baker Family: I knew because he loved to play with toys and chase balls. I've been wanting a dog who loves to play.
Petside: How has Joey joining your family changed your lives?
Baker Family: We all love Joey. He is something else! He eats everything on the ground- shoes, clothes, whatever he can play with, he gets it.
Petside: How is Joey's eye injury healing?
Baker Family: Very good. The hair has finally grown over it. It looks a lot better than it did at first.
Petside: Have you had to make any special arrangements in the house because of his disability?
Baker Family: No, he gets around fine with his one eye.
Petside: How does Joey interact with other dogs?
Baker Family: We try not to let him get around other dogs too much, just for the simple fact that we don't anything to happen to his other eye.
Petside: Are you excited about Joey winning the Bounce Most Adorable Shelter Pet contest?
Baker Family: Yes we are! We hope maybe he can be in other pageants or on TV for commercials maybe. Ha-ha!
Petside: What is it about Joey that you think made people love him so much?
Baker Family: We really don't know. He his cute and adorable, but I guess people feel sorry for him because of his one eye.
Petside: If Joey could say something to everyone who voted for him, what do you think he would say?
Baker Family: He'd say thank you, I guess. We would not know, there's no telling what he would say!
