The Bounce 15 Most Lovable Shelter Pets - Baby
Todd Cross, NBCU

Name: Baby
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Gender: Female
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Color: Brindle
Age: 7 Years
Weight: 58 lbs
Housebroken: Not yet, but I'm eager to learn
I came to the shelter in June 2008. My former owner was not treating me well, so the Pennsylvania SPCA Humane Law Enforcement officers seized me to give me immediate veterinary care. My previous owner was charged with cruelty and neglect. When I came to the shelter, I was suffering from severe allergies and my skin was badly irritated. I had recently given birth, but never received pre- or post-partum care. I'm so glad I came to the shelter to find a new, loving home. I would love an owner with a yard, a soft sofa we can snuggle on, and someone who wants me by their side a lot!
Baby's Favorites:
Favorite activity: Nobody puts Baby in the corner - I love to be the center of attention!
Favorite toy: Chew toys, please!
Favorite food: Peanut butter biscuits, peanut butter chew-toys, and PEANUT BUTTER!
Strong likes: Having my belly rubbed and ears scratched
Strong dislikes: Owners who mistreat pets
Household Notes: I get along with other animals, but I haven't spent much time around children. Because of this, I'd like to be formally introduced to them before living with them.

Baby is adorable!! I would take her in a heartbeat if I lived close enough to adopt her. She deserves all the love and cuddling a forever family can give herafter what she has been through. What a wonderful "lady" to be willing to trust again. I will be praying for Baby as I do for all mistreated animals. I have a female pit we rescued from the Arizona Dog Pound when she was barely 6 weeks old and she is the most loving, kind and cuddling 4 yr. old I have ever had.

Susan March 6, 2009 8:54 AM
As with Meringue I explained my love for these dogs. I hope this mistreated beauty get's a home soon. Pit bulls are loving family dog's if people will just give them a chance. And protect them from the ignorant people out there today.
Anonymous March 6, 2009 9:15 AM
Pitbulls are great and rescuing our female was one of the best things that every happened to us....she's got more kisses and love for people than our boxer and boston combined! We love them all and are happy we got our opportunity to give a pitbull a second chance! PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!
Barb March 6, 2009 10:26 AM
OMG! She's so pretty! We have a 4 yr pit that we adopted when she was 12 weeks. Pit's get such a bad rep, it really stinks! I don't care what kind of doggie you are, you act how you are taught (just like parenting!!!)
Virginia March 6, 2009 10:27 AM
YOU ARE A BEAUTY, (((BABY)))!!! We're all praying you get your loving, forever home real soon!
Dreama March 6, 2009 10:53 AM
Keep your chin up, Sweetie! Someone will rescue you and love you, I'm sure. I hope your previous owner gets the maximum that the law allows for hurting you - you didn't ask for it! I will be thinking of you and asking God to take care of you until the right family comes along! XOXO
Anonymous March 6, 2009 11:44 AM
Pit Bulls are Fantastic Dogs! Dont let anyone tell you any different!
Barbara March 6, 2009 12:15 PM
Baby you are beautiful and if I didn't already have 3 pit bulls at home I would come get you. I know there is someone out there just waiting to find you and they will! You hang in there you precious angel they are coming. Pit Bulls are the best family pets. They love you like no animal ever has and once you allow them into your heart you can never, ever turn your back again. You will find yourself fighting to change the misconceptions out there about their breed. They ARE NOT what the media wants you to believe; they are fantastic, loyal, loving, silly babies! And they all think they are lap dogs!! You can't understand until you have awoke with a warm pit bull cuddling as close as he can get beside you in bed. They say that pit bulls relate to human emotions more than any breed out there and I believe it. Heck I live it every day! You will see Baby, your chance is definitly coming!
Maggie March 6, 2009 1:26 PM
Baby that sweet face is irresistable, hope you are very soon in a forever home with a loving family so you will know lots of love, toys and good things to eat
Anonymous March 6, 2009 1:30 PM
What a beautiful doggie! I have a rottie and I foster pitties/rotties with her all the time. I volunteer at our local shelter and I fell in love with the pitties - what awesome dogs. My favorite dogs at the shelter are always the old pitties and rotties. It's so tough to change people's mindset about the breeds I mentioned, but we work on one person at a time. Our fosters and our girl are ALWAYS the best behaved and mannered dogs everywhere we go - and we take them everywhere because they are family. We are praying for Baby and I hope this sweet little lady wins!
Anonymous March 6, 2009 1:40 PM
Awe! She is adorable. If I didn't already have 5 dogs (4 of which are pit bulls) and a cat, I would take her in a heartbeat. I hope she finds a great home.
Anonymous March 6, 2009 2:06 PM
What a sweet beautiful girl. I have known many a pits in my lifetime and they have been raised by responsible loving owners and were all therfore loving sweet , lap dog, lick your face and play all day sweethearts! It enrages me the way this breed has gotten such a bad rap - when they are trained to be mean and fought they are victimized! The dogs are the victims and then they get a bad rap beacuse of those idiot owners who have dogs for the wrong reasons. I pray sweet Baby gets a fur-ever home very soon!
Dogs Rule Ranch March 6, 2009 2:06 PM
Baby! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! You remind of a great PitX at the shelter I worked at. Boy, I wish I had room for you. Hang in there. Your loving forever home will come! I think 26 dogs (63 animals in all) is all I can handle right now. I wish you could come here to see all the other animals. You could play with the sheep and horses, and check out the cats, parrots, rabbits, and other pets here. GOOD LUCK, GIRL!
Pat March 6, 2009 2:39 PM
Baby, you are a beautiful girl!!!
I pray God give you a wonderful forever home soon! (today!!!)
You deserve love, understanding and a warm loving home.
I have a mixed pit, now.
Her name is Lady, she too is a 'rescue' animal.
She's full of love and playfulness.
Pit mixes rule!!!!
Karen March 6, 2009 5:01 PM
What a sweetheart. We have a mixed German Shepherd & Lab that we found on the streets. We found out when we had her spayed that she was pregnant with 9 puppies. She is our JOY and is spoiled rotten as all pets should be. We also have a female cat LUNA that is not the nicest cat in town but tolerates us and JOY. She has finally started sharing the sofa with JOY. Anyhow if we didn't have them, I would love to have BABY.
Rose March 6, 2009 7:29 PM
I hope you get the new home you deserve and I hope your abusive previous owner pays dearly for the cruel way you were treated. I just adopted an older neglected dog and he is the sweetest thing. Good luck Baby!
stoppoundsiezure March 7, 2009 2:28 PM
SO handsome! I hope people aren't scared of the pitbull image.Mine has saved my life twice, once we were sleeping and she kept bugging me to get up, I kept telling her it wasn't time. She pushed me and pushed me with her big old pit head so I finally got up and noticed the floor was awfully hot.I checked the basement and the furnace had burned dry. The furnace itself was bright red and was already melting anything plastic that was around it. The fire Dept said in another 10 minutes this big, 100 yr old, full of wood house would have gone up like a tinderbox. If it wasn't for her, I would have slept through it. The other time we were walking when 3 dogs in a pack came at me, teeth bared and growling. She took a stance in front of me and wouldn't let them near me. They finally left and I was surprised to find that she only had a couple of bites. I owe my life to pitbulls, there's nothing in the world like them. I hope someone gives this one the chance he deserves. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
sondra March 8, 2009 4:30 PM
i love all animals and do hope the laws will start doing more towards these people whom get animals and have no plans to take care of them. any dog can be mean if you make them that way. all the luck in a good new home. you all do just a wonderful job. keep up the good work and i will continue to send as much donations as often as i can. every little bit helps.
Anonymous March 8, 2009 6:16 PM
just love her, hope she gets a great family to love her the way she should be loved.
Cathy March 8, 2009 8:11 PM

jeanne March 9, 2009 8:28 PM
