What "Dog Breath" Really Means

Very few people love the smell of dog food so it may seem natural that your dog's breath won't smell great to you either.

Most often, "dog breath" is caused by plaque and calculus on your dog's teeth. This provides a home for bacteria that cause odors.

How to prevent bad breath in your dog? Take care of those teeth! Dogs need daily tooth brushing and can also benefit from chewing on "dental" toys and rawhide treats. A little attention to dog dental health and your pet's breath will be a lot more socially acceptable -- especially during those surprise kisses!
