Dog Boarding

If your dog needs a lot of socialization, or if you're going to be away for a long time, consider a boarding kennel. Dog kennel prices can range between $20 and $35 a night, or perhaps more depending on your region and the level of service.

Your dog will need to be up to date on shots (particularly the vaccine for Bordetella or kennel cough) and it's a good idea to tour the kennel first. Look for a kennel that has:

  • Good ventilation and light
  • Plenty of room to move around
  • Exercise areas
  • Knowledgeable and caring staff
  • Beds or resting areas
  • Cats housed in a different area from dogs
