I have 3 poodles and they are VERY smart. I have taught them to ring a bell to let me know when they need to go outside. They have the personality that is a pleaser. If you teach them to be wimpy lap dogs, then thats what they will be. But I let mine fetch and do all the "Dog things" and they are a great friend to any family.
