Pet Psychics: A Growing Trend
Have you ever wondered what your cat is thinking? Is she sick? How can get my dog to stop biting? Is he happy with the new organic pet food?
Increasingly, pet lovers are turning to pet psychics like Sharon Kurtz for a better understanding of their pets. Kurtz, who can communicate with any animal as well as humans, welcomes people's interest in learning what their pets have to say, "because the animals want and need to be heard," she says, "and they definitely have something to say."
Since her childhood, Kurtz has been able to talk with people and animals, but her mother discouraged such activities. Her decision to offer psychic readings evolved from her work as an emergency room nurse. "Accident victims would sometimes arrive at the hospital emergency room with their pets," said Kurtz, a registered nurse. "I just knew what the pet was saying." Her pet psychic services blossomed even further when she became involved in holistic healing practices. More and more people wanted to know what their pets were thinking.
Take Margaret Woodward. She knew her 12-year-old tabby named Jessie Bessie was dying from cancer. Because the veterinarian didn't even vaccinate her cat, Woodward knew that her cat was probably dying. She watched as Jessie Bessie's world became smaller and smaller until the cat just rested lightly on the bed, taking water but no food. Woodward called a pet psychic to get a better understanding of her cat's condition.
From Kurtz, she learned that the pet had no concept of dying and no understanding of disease. "A pet's world is simple," said Kurtz. "The cat wasn't sad about her condition."
The psychic reading gave Woodward a greater understanding and acceptance of Jessie Bessie's death. And so, she was able to arrange for a peaceful ending.
Should you contact a pet psychic? "Yes," said Kurtz, but she notes, "Animal communication is not the same as human communication. Their thoughts are quite simple and direct.
"Pets focus on the positives rather than the negatives. For example, if you tell Fido not to go on the couch, he only hears "couch." You should focus on where he should be instead of where he shouldn't be. They don't understand negatives."
How is a reading conducted? Surprisingly, just like with humans, pet readings can take place over the telephone. Kurtz only needs the pet's name. She discourages pet owners from providing elaborate details. Sometimes in homes with multiple animals, pet readings can get confusing. "Pets will just randomly chime in," said Kurtz. "When this happens, I will ask the other animals step aside."
How long is a typical psychic reading? It only takes can 15 minutes. Kurtz said, "In that time pets usually tell you everything you need to know."
Some pet owners turn to psychics to learn about a deceased pet. Kurtz said, "Pets should be allowed time to transition after their death. We, as humans, desperately miss their companionship and can hold them to the earth plane. They need time to "cross over." Usually this time is from 24 to 48 hours unless they have reached an untimely death in their youth and need a longer time to transition. They will always let the pet psychic know."
Kurtz offered this final advisory: Come prepared with your questions. "The pet will continue to 'speak,' about how much he enjoys car rides but to get meaningful answers, have your questions ready."

As a professional animal communicator and the author of a monthly animal communication column in a holistic magazine, I was very excited to see this article! I agree with most of it, but not that pets' thoughts are "simple". Pets often relay to me complex information about the people in their lives and their relationships with them, which is of tremendous help in solving problems or just being a better pet parent. It's also very helpful in dealing with grief when an animal has crossed over.
Thanks for publishing this article!

I'm sorry, but this is a bit much for me. I love my animals and am considered a fanatic when it comes to my furry children. However, our priorities should not be spending our limited time and energy on wondering if our pet likes their new food. There are real issues that need to be addressed...like that fact that psychics are even a part of our everyday culture. Yes, I know I will get blasted for this opinion, but shouldn't someone show us our silliness??

I have learned so much from the animals and feel blessed and honored to hear their messages. As a former deputy sheriff, I needed to have a session myself before I could understand what was possible.
Now as a professional Animal Communicator myself, I have learned that it is so much more than wondering what their favorite treat is or what their favorite toy is.
Most clients contact me to find out more about their animals well being, pain or health issues, behavior problems, litter box issues and end of life concerns.
A good majority also want to connect with their animals who have passed away.
Not only do they share information that can help with daily issues but animals can also provide insight to your health issues, your career, your relationships and so much more. They even bring through deceased human loved ones.
I have a client whose deceased dog told her to 'check her glands, something is in the glands that makes you sick', only to find out later she had breast cancer, it had moved into the lymph nodes (glands) and my client endured a life saving surgery last November. She is alive and well now finishing her radiation treatments and very thankful for the timely, life-saving message from her deceased dog.
Silliness? I hardly think this client would call it silly. Neither would I. Real issues are addressed every day in my sessions. Real people with real issues find resolutions, answers, healing and a peace of mind that somehow eluded them before.
Human ego is what blocks most skeptics from realizing that there is more to our animals' consciouness than what meets the eye.
I invite you to read more testimonials on my website or even actual stories on my blog.
Finding an Animal Communicator to work with is so important. Obtain references whenever possible, look at their work history and most of all how many sessions they have completed.
Just because someone has been in the business for a long time does not always mean they are actively improving their skills or conducting sessions on a daily basis.
I invite you to find me on Facebook too!
I bid you and all the animals in your life peace and abundance.

I think calling them pet psychics is a bit much. I believe some people have a "feel" for animals, and that comes from experience. If for instance you grew up with dogs all your life, you'll have an idea what they say or feel. Also, animals don't have souls, so when they pass there is no transition to somewhere else. Sorry, I would like to believe there is a doggy heaven somewhere too, but I don't believe that's the case.

Kissy Regan and Anonymous, admit it please, you don't know what you're talking about. You are simply repeating the beliefs of either crass materialists who say when you're dead you're dead, or arrogant humanists who claim superiority to our millions of species cousins, whose consciousness and life contents you apparently refuse to allow yourself to conceive of much less feel-perceive (which you COULD DO if you allowed yourself to empathize sufficiently even to other humans, who themselves are reincarnations of various species, according to several ancient human spiritual traditions). Silly-kissy Regan, i am showing you your silliness now, with these words. And anonymous, to claim animals don't have souls is simply your confession that you lack the empathic sympathy with other species to feel their deep spirituality, which is no less than your own. It's sad and arrogant of humans to make claims for which there is virtually no evidence other than their LACK OF EXPERIENCE; wiser just to say, for instance, "I have never been able to sense an animal's 'soul' if there is such a thing."-

I am so happy to see all of the comments on the article written about the animals and myself. I understand what each one is saying and I have a few replies:
By "simple" I meant that an animal comes right to the point during a communication. I don't believe, nor have I ever had an animal tell me a specific diagnosis or a cure for an ailment they have unless it is something that the owner or caregiver has "told" them. I've had a number of cases where the animals have told me about neighbors frightening them, etc. They have told me about family issues going on so I apologize if I was misunderstood in the article. They are very intelligent creatures. It was very difficult to give a lot of information in a small article so I did the best I could.
For the people who do not believe in what we do..that is OK with us. But there are so many that have been helped by animal communicators and so many that DO believe. So, pleaser remember that your opinion is your opinion and if you have not tried a communication, you may not fully understand what it is and how it is done. I don't consider it silly at all. And I don't think that whatever you call us, whether it be "animal communicator", "pet psychic" really matters. It's just a name. This is a gift that everyone is born with...they just forgot how to use it.
I am grateful to all the thousands of animals that I have had the priviledge to "speak" to. They all have different messages whether they are in physical form or not. And I agree with the other communicators that it can bring great peace to an owner that has just lost a beloved pet.
Kudos to the communicators. Keep up the great work!
Sharon
