When we get this far down the list, it's generally hard to separate these incredibly pet friendly colleges. But after some investigative measures, Stephens College has to be number two on the list.
With Stephens, there are pros and cons. For instance, like Washington & Jefferson and Stetson University, Stephens College has a dorm, Searcy Hall, dedicated to pets. And you can bring virtually any pet, including your dog, cat, gerbils and mice. You name the pet, and you can probably bring it.
Cons: when it comes to dogs, the breeds you can bring are limited. According to the policy, you're not allowed to bring a Pit bull, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Chow or an Akita. Additionally, snakes and spiders are not considered appropriate pets.
Sounds like a stricter policy than the other schools, but on the pro side of things, the environment this college gives for the pets it does allow is incredible. There's even a Doggie Daycare on campus, complete with dog runs and a place to play while you head out to class. That's pretty "pawsome."
Additionally, if you're into pets but your parents won't let you have one, Stephens has a program set up where students are able to foster a pet through Columbia Second Chance, a rescue organization.
All in all, the environment and friendliness towards pets, and the fact that Stephens views pets as a part of campus life and not a hindrance to students, is what makes this college number two on our list.
