If you asked your hairdresser for a perm, perhaps you’d look like one of these gorgeous beasts. The signature trait of this rare cat breed is long, curly locks. Due to a dominant gene, bouncy wavy ringlets of loose, luxurious hair drapes over their bodies. In long-haired LaPerms, tails are like plumes. The short-hairs sport a bottle brush of a tail. The tightest curls are on the belly, throat, and base of the ears. In spite of all that hair, LaPerms are considered hypoallergenic. LaPerms thrive best in busy households where they can play to their heart's content. These feisty felines maintain kittenesque qualities throughout their entire lives. They love to be kissed and will smooch you right back.
Fun Fact: Some kittens are born bald, some have short wavy hair at birth, while others lose their hair then grow and lose it again. During the first six months you may not know what your cat’s hair will eventually look like.
