3. Maine Coon

The Maine Coon, #3 on Petside's list of top registered cat breeds is loving, gentle and intelligent with superior mousing talents. They are very good with children and also good with other pets.

Fun Fact: Maine Coon cats are not as vertically-oriented as some other breeds. They prefer to chase objects on the ground and grasp them in their large paws - no doubt instincts developed as professional mousers.

I have a beautiful girl whose 4 and 1/2 now. She is laying on the recliner with me now. Her name is Moe. A little gender confusion when she was a baby. She is black and white. When she is cold she will sleep like a little person between my husband and me. She is a side sleeper and uses a pillow. She also like to jump in the bath and drink water out of the faucet. Adorable..very loved

Did you know that Maine Coons love to play catch? I used to have a lot of fun with my Maggie.

I adopted a rather badly beaten very sad Maine Coon and consider myself the lucky one.
He had to have all his hair removed due to sores and had intestinal parasites, ear mites, and a lung infection. His castration was done by an amateur and when I got him he had a scab on it as well as a great deal of swelling. It has been 4 weeks and his skin is healed and his hair is growing, he is rid of most of his parasites and is learning to use the toilet for his litter needs. Very Smart. However he is a puddler, he puddles in any water he can find, dog dish, his dish, bathtub, sink, glass of water etc. Is this their nature. He talks all the time and has to be where I am. I am retired and so it works well. Great with the dog and even has
been outside on a leash for a walk. However,
being an outside cat when I got him I cannot believe he hasn't asked once to go out of doors unless I put the leash on the dog.
I am enjoying him thoroughly and as I say
all said and done I GOT THE BEST OF THE DEAL.

My Maine Coon was found by my dog in my pasture when she was around 5 weeks old (weighed in at 3/4 pound!). She was quite feral at that point. She was VERY timid around people until this year. All of a sudden she realized that she could talk and it would get her food and treats. Now she talks all the time. She is now around 6 years old. She is mainly friendly to me but tolerates my oldest son when he comes over. She is a beautiful cat and is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO soft.
