Pet portraits can make a cool, unique keepsake, especially if you find an artist’s whose style you really love. Pet portraits are also an incredibly surprising gift for anyone (maybe your mom?) who dotes on their cat, dog, or other critter.
Here, some of the top talents in pet portraits share what makes them tick. Click through to see what they had to say!
BZ was the name of Vicki Boatright’s beloved cat. She says, “after nineteen years together, your souls kinda merge, and so I just started taking her name.”
Now known as BZTAT, her outstanding pet portraits are keeping her quite busy. She started by playing around with a photo she took of a friend’s dog and making it “artsy.” That friend bought it, and when others saw it, they wanted to commission their own. The business took off from there.
She does a great job of capturing the character of the animal, as well as blending in the relationship that the pet has to it’s human, followed by abstracting the painting enough to make it interesting and unique. BZ says it’s a delicate balance. One that takes 15 to 20 hours of joy filled work. With her background in counseling she knows how to paint in that connection to your heart. Visit her website here!
