Sumner and I used to take themed holiday photos that required him to don ridiculous headgear. He wore hats, wigs, glasses and antlers with aplomb, mainly because I gave him high-value treats every few minutes during the shoot. He became so proficient at modeling that he would hold a pose, even if the costume shifted down his face, because he knew he’d get “paid” after each flash. You can also use the treat to coax your dog to look at the camera. I often hold a treat right next to the lens, which almost guarantees canine focus.
