Human medicine persistently tops the ASPCA's list of dangerous household items.
Even storing medications in child-proof containers is not cautious enough, since pets can often chew through them. Store the tightly sealed bottles in hard-to-reach places. Dr. Murray warns, "We see people all the time who give their injured pets acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol. Then the pet comes in with an injury and dying from acetaminophen toxicity."
No matter what, Dr. Murray advises, never, ever give human medications to a dog or cat.
