Coal miners in 19th century Staffordshire, England wanted a smaller, faster dog to participate in the sport of dogfighting (now illegal) dominated by Bulldogs and Mastiffs. They combined a Bulldog with a small local terrier and the result was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is extremely intelligent, muscular and courageous. This sweet tempered and affectionate dog, is very active and looks forward to exercising daily.
