Can you imagine a world without elephants? If the illegal poaching of thousands of elephants continues, we may not be far from a time when elephants only exist in zoos. In December 2012, Malaysian authorities have recovered more than 1,000 elephant tusks in the country’s largest ivory seizure. Due to booming economies in Asia, the demand for ivory as ornamental items is rising fast and it is providing a source of income for organized gangs and desperate individuals in Africa.
To ensure that elephants survive for future generations, do not purchase any products made of ivory, and support conservation organizations such as World Wildlife Fund and Animal Works.
