Joy says one of the female dogs named Sophie has adopted her son as her own pup.
“After the first week, I no longer used a baby monitor. She would come and get me the second my son woke up.”
Sophie also helped her son learn to crawl. “Before he had figured out to go forward by crawling, he would rock back and forth on his knees and hands. One day Sophie came up behind him and gently put her snout under his little tushy and prodded him forward. He took off in a crawl.”
As for entertaining the toddler, Joy doesn’t have anything to worry about because Sophie and Charlie play fetch from the crib. “My son would throw one of his stuffed animals out of his crib and Sophie would then fetch it and put in back in the crib. This went on for about ten minutes,” says Joy.
