Who couldn’t love a big beautiful Golden Retriever?

“Goldens are happy, friendly, affectionate, active, sensitive, usually playful, and very loyal,” says Debbie Davis of GRR. “They love to be active and outdoors. Sometimes they retrieve, and they usually all love snow and water.”

Goldens can also be high energy, and not properly training or socializing them can cause problems that owners sometimes do not want to properly deal with and their dogs end up in rescues. Louie, one of the organization’s many rescue stories, was left unattended in the backyard with mange for seven years. He was eventually dumped at a kill shelter and due to his medical problems, was promptly placed on the kill list. GRR stepped in and now Louie has his forever home with a family that loves him, including two Golden siblings.
