The Rhodesian Ridgebacks' name is no mystery. They're named after their introduction into Rhodesia, where they became popular for lion hunting. Actually, they were so perfect for this new role that afterwards, Rhodesian Ridgebacks was more commonly referred to as the African Lion Hound.
