The Bedlington Terrier's origins are a mystery but a man named Joseph Ainsley of Bedlington, England is credited with breeding the first true Bedlington Terrier in 1825.

The Bedlington Terrier is calmer and more laid back that other terriers but is an excellent hunter and a great companion.
