Lynn Jones defied her supervisor’s orders when she refused to put an emaciated dog with sores and bloody paws onto a plane earlier this month.
The employee of Airport Terminal Services (ATC) at Reno-Tahoe International Airport said the dog was too sick to travel to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Jones told News 4 in Reno: "My supervisor said it wasn't my concern, but animal abuse is everyone's concern who sees it."
For her actions, Jones was fired, but shortly afterwards offered her job back, with back pay and full benefits. She accepted the job offer a day later.
PETA is awarding Jones with a Compassionate Action Award for her actions.
