Denise Richards is encouraging you to adopt a pet.
The actress, and ex-wife of Charlie Sheen, works closely with Best Friends Animal Society. Every other Monday, when she’s not working, she takes between 30 and 50 dogs out of their shelter and transfers them to a sanctuary from which they’ll hopefully find a permanent home.
In her iVillage CelebVillage blog, she writes, "Since I started working with Best Friends, I personally have taken home a sweet 16-year-old dog (I couldn't imagine her ending her days at a shelter after 16 years!)"
Richards has taken a number of other dogs home with her, too, and has even converted a garage into what she describes as “a fancy dog hotel with two large dog runs for play.”
In fact, Richards launched her own blog last month and offers pets for adoption there.
Given all the shenanigans her ex got into this year, we applaud her ability to stay focused on the positive.
