Oprah Winfrey’s lack of children stands to benefit her pets. According to a story in Woman's Day, the talk show host and owner of her own TV network reportedly established a $30-million trust fund to care for her dogs and other assorted pets.
Long known as an animal-lover, Oprah has numerous pets and states on her website, "I can tell you from my own experience that adopting a pet brings so much love into your life. I can't even begin to repay my own dogs for the flat-out joy that they bring me.”
In fact, she even uses her own site to highlight shelters and direct readers directly to them so they can help animals in need.
Oprah also gives to animal rights charities and once signed a wooden dog bone for an auction to benefit the Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
While some might say Winfrey's trust is way over the top, we hope it inspires everyday pet owners to include care for their pets in their wills. Pet owners passing is too often the reason lovely cats and dogs end up homeless.
