An animal welfare activist, Beth Stern this year worked with the North Shore Animal League to create its 2012 calendar to highlight the healthy canines and felines that can be found in local shelters.
Photographed by her husband Howard, each picture captures Beth Stern with dogs or cats, at least one of which they’ve since adopted. Leon Bear, an 18.5-lb. cat who is a survivor of the Alabama tornado this year, now lives in the Stern home.
The Beth and Howard Stern also has a bulldog named Bianca, another dog named Ziff, and two other rescue cats, Walter and Apple.
Beth Stern has made countless TV appearances this fall to promote the calendar and to encourage animal lovers to go to shelters if they would like a pet.
