The Bichon Frise has always been a people pleaser. Early in its history many Spanish painters included the breed in their works, such as the famous artist Goya. Once the royal throne ceased in France, the pup became a “common dog” that ran the streets, no longer spoiled, but a friend to many. It often was a companion to organ grinders, the blind, and even performed tricks as a circus dog!
