Balto was actually a Siberian husky. And everywhere you read Siberian/Alaskan Huskies are superior sled dogs because they are smaller than Malamutes and can go further and faster.

Our Aussie is by far the best dog we've ever had. They require quite a bit of attention but overall very good dogs. I've never seen a bad one in my life.
