I'm surprised they didn't mention the Carolina Dog. What could be more American than this breed? Found, living as they have done for probably several thousand years, in the wilds of S. Carolina.

The dog on little rascals was an American Pit Bull Terrier and an American Staffordshire terrier they are the same breed just one with the AKC and one with the UKC and back then they could be registered as both. Now they are kept as distinct bloodlines and can only be registered to the one that their parents were. The American Bulldog is a separate breed that grows much larger, Chance in homeward bound was an American Bulldog puppy. Pit bulls/ Amstaffs are between 40-60 pounds according to the standards where an american bulldog can easily reach over 100 lbs.
