The holidays can be a particularly challenging time for those who have lost a pet, as we tend to think back on the good times we shared. Continuing to make them a part of the celebration can provide comfort even though they’re not there in the same way we’d like them to be. Denise Fleck of Burbank, California, puts up a stocking for all her dogs at Christmas time - including those who are no longer with her.
“I still put up a stocking for those who have crossed, and the first year that they’re gone, I write a special note for them and put it in their stocking,” she says. “But every year, all the stockings go up. That way, they are always remembered.”
