It's a remarkably easy way to find a new family member. By logging-on during a virtual adoption event people can view available shelter animals and ask volunteers or staff questions about the pet's personality, quirks and activity level.
If a match is made the new owner simply goes to the shelter and picks-up his or her best friend. Otherwise, hitting "next" transports viewers into the chat room of another shelter. "Essentially, you could see all the animals available at many different shelters right from your living room," Ayalon explains.
"Under this model, all the negative stereotypes of shelters now disappear. " The new adoption technology is free to shelters nationwide and ready for them to use.
