Actress Katherine Heigl pledged $1 million, through her family's charity, The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, for low cost spay-neuter and supporting programs in Los Angeles and surrounding communities. The pledge helped kick off a spay-neuter initiative called Compassion Revolution.
Heigl, who starred in Grey's Anatomy and recently on the big screen in Life As We Know It, believes the pet population crisis is a serious one and the approach to addressing the problem must be equally serious and all encompassing. "The first step is a commitment and an acceptance of the philosophy that saving lives is achievable and that killing is not a solution to the pet overpopulation," she says.
