Tony Award winning actress Bernadette Peters penned a delightful children's book this year about a Pit Bull who would rather be a graceful ballerina than a dog that no one seems to like.
"Mary and I are thrilled that we are bringing awareness to the hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats in New York City," says Peters who shares her home with Stella, a rescued Pit Bull and the inspiration for her book.
The adoption event, held each year in July, benefits animal shelters throughout New York and this year found new homes for about 250 pets.
