Dog Strollers: What do you think?
For folks that are owned by a very special dog and who frequently long to take them along for company on their daily stroll when shopping at local stores or visiting areas which may not be that "dog friendly", Nicole Fuller, who writes for the Baltimore Sun's pet blog, "Unleashed" may have just arrived at a rather innovative idea that just may offer the perfect solution. This one sounds rather compelling, although some canine fans may be concerned that dogs may not be quite so thrilled with this arrangement.
Fuller's miniature pinscher, Tigger, now enjoys traveling around in luxury riding in a dog stroller which she purchased especially for him. Using the stroller, Fuller is able to bring Tigger anywhere she wants. She now can visit clothing chains, pharmacies, and even shop in her favorite grocery store with no hassles. Fuller claims that the stroller works beautifully an so far no one has complained or given her a hard time as she pushes her darling pooch along.

According to Fuller, prices for this puppy perambulator range from $40.00 to $200.00. She was able to find a stroller advertised by a popular pet chain for $74.99 on eBay for only $49.95.
Of course having a "puppy shower" permitting dog people to register for this item is something to consider. Since many dog lovers frequently use "baby" in talking about their pets, it really is not that unrealistic. And, as a special treat maybe someone special will even give it as a gift at the party.
While observed by passing strangers on her rounds, some folks give Fuller a strange look, but the majority of people is entertained and comments that her dog in the stroller is very "cute."
Of course, taking it to the extreme, Robyn Crook from Tauranga, New Zealand, featured in the photograph at left, makes good use of a baby stroller designed for triplets. It must be really quite an eye-catcher for folks when they watch her meander about with her 18 Chihuahua-cross dogs, on her routine daily outings.
What are some of your opinions regarding the use of a dog-stroller or a baby-stroller with a dog? Would you buy one for your pet? Leave a comment and tell us how you feel.

My dogs wouldn't appreciate it, but if the dog enjoys and the owner enjoys it I really don't see anything wrong with it. That picture with the lady and all her chihuahuas is pretty darn adorable.

I have an older Lhasha who loves to go out but just can't walk very far. The stroller is a great way for ME to get my exercise along with her company and she gets to enjoy the sights scents and sounds of a walk.

i have a dog stroller for my four chihuahuas. We live in Hawaii and there are so many pig hunting pit bull dogs that come out of the valley that I would never walk any of my chihuahuas on a leash. They are safe in a stroller and dearly love to go.

I didn't put my kids in a stroller, let alone a dog or a cat. The whole point of a walk is TO WALK.

When will people let dogs be dogs ? They are born to be dogs, they love being dogs, they are NOT baby humans.
The psychological damage done to cats and dogs by these stupid ideas such as strollers and dressing them up,is tremendous.

I don't suppose these poor creatures even even know they are dogs, let alone live normal dogs lives. Where is the running, the games, the ball throwing? What about their physical welbeing? Sitting in a stroller isn't walkies it's sitting waiting for obesity and heart disease. Many humans who would really benefit from using a wheelchair resist the very real improvement this would make to their lives prefering to struggle on rather than give in and admit they need help, but here we have perfectly fit and healthy animals being put in "strollers" and wheeled around like dolls in a prams. Dogs, and cats too, need different things from their lives than we do, they are different species to us and should not be forced to be mini humans. Cute? No. Misguided? Oh yes.

Sorry, unless there is something physically wrong with the dog I see no reason to use such a thing as a doggie stroller. Dogs need proper exercise (being on all 4 feet on the ground) to stay healthy mentally and physically.

We have never given our dogs or cats a "free" ride in a stroller or anything else. I have to admit that the barn cats used to ride on the backs of our work horses occasionally. If a dog or cat can no longer walk on its own then I could see letting them ride in a stroller. That way they could get some fresh air and be with you. If they are healthy, then the really need to be out there walking for their health as well as ours. If you don't feel your area is a safe place to walk then find one that is. Now there are dog parks and other places welcome for dogs. Oh and by the way, in our state dogs or any kind of pets are not allowed into stores unless they are service animals. That is the law and I am so glad it is. The only stores they are allowed into are places like Petsmart and then I really have my doubts that it is a good idea.

I don't have any personal experience, but I know someone who takes one of her indoor cats out in an enclosed stroller. Only one of her cats likes it, but that one loves it! The others don't like it at all, so she only does it with the one.

I think if you have as many dogs as the lady in the picture, they may be ok. But dogs do need exercise and walking them if possible is a better option.

SOME HOW I DONOT SEE MY 2 BOXERS BEING STROLLED DOWN THE STREET...EVEN IF THEY WERE SMALL DOGS I JUST CANNOT PICTURE IT

I don't know about taking the dogs for walks in a stroller, but I certainly do appreciate the owners who bring multiple small pets to our animal hospital in one. It makes my job so much easier! I can just wheel them all to the back of the clinic, get the lab samples that I need, weigh each pet, then return them all to the exam room. Voila! A complicated job made much simpler for me and for the pets.

The strollers are okay.
What's in 'em, isn't, IMO.

I got a stroller for Prancer, my elderly Sheltie when he could no longer walk long distances due to arthritis. He would get so angry and upset when I would go on a walk without him and when I tried to shorten the walks to accomodate his aching joints, he would look at me like, "well? WHy are we turning around so soon?" So, I felt the next best thing was a stroller. He could walk until he got tired and I didn't have to carry his gigantic 23 inch tall, 45Lb body home a mile. LOL

Our dogs are dogs ,they run free in our back yard ,they give love and cuddles to ourselves and anybody in contact with them. The stroller gives control & security in a 'crowd' environment.Enjoy your pets LOL.
