Bringing The World Together: Feline and Canine Style

The other day I received this touching photo which has recently been widely circulating between animal lovers via the Internet. It sure is easy to understand why.

I think we will agree that often a picture is worth more than a thousand words. This beautiful snapshot conveys a message which really needs no lengthy explanation.

And as I gazed at the picture, I was immediately struck by the love and trust displayed in the relationship between the napping dog and cat, which to me poignantly illustrates the potential for love and trust in our world.

So in the spirit of Valentine's Day, celebrated tomorrow, February 14, I offer this photo as my Valentine Day card to you.

As I've been sick all week, I've NEVER been without at least one of my 5 cats on my lap. My first night home from the ER, 4 of them lined me, two on each side, as I slept through the night. At least two of them will join me in my recliner as I nap(it doesnt' hurt the sun is shinging in, I don't think hehe)...but they've been watching over me and never leaving me alone. As I FINALLY start to get better, they are acting more like themselves....I can't say the same of most human friends. Now, if the cats could only drive to pick up RX's and Coke when I need it HAHAH

We can learn from the resilience of animals and their ability to forgive unspeakable wrongs visited upon them by the very humans who God charged to care for them. Just look at the rehabilitation of the dogs previously owned by Michael Vick. Their hearts are big enough to learn to love and trust humans again. Pictures like this one above just make my heart sing!

Oh how precious and true. My cats and dogs get along so well. I have one cat who gets pleasure from giving her dog buddy (a Rottie/Dobi mix) bath all the time. They sleep together and where you see one you will see the other not far behind.
