Maybe Cats Really do have 9 Lives

Maybe there is a touch of truth to the myth about cats having nine lives.

According to the heart-warming story that appeared in the "Standard Times of New Bedford", which has been circulating widely by many cat lovers surfing the Internet, there is one very lucky cat, residing in the Bedford, Mass. area that definitely was watched over by a guardian angel.

Firefighter, Al Machado was able to rescue the tiger Angora kitty by giving it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, as he carried the cat outside. After the cat was revived, it soon was resting comfortably, waiting patiently to be claimed by loving family.

While no humans were injured in the fire, it was determined as arson, set by a man and woman whose last known address was the building in which the fire occurred. Authorities reported that both were arrested and charged with setting the fire.

Sadly, two other cats perished in the fire that raged in the second-story apartment. However, two dogs were rescued with the help of oxygen provided by paramedics and rescue personnel. They also saved all the other animals in the building, which included a ferret and some frogs.

Firefighter Machado told folks who asked for more information about this rescue, that when he provided mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to the cat, that “it tasted like fur”, adding a touch of wry humor.

This touching video uploaded to YouTube by stvideo, of Firefighter Machado shows him kneeling next to the cat, breathing into its mouth in order to save him.

But I wonder if this Angora cat will share his frightening experience and heroic rescue with his feline friends, by describing the firefighter’s first aid as “Mouse-to Mouse” resuscitation.

Thank you for sharing this video. We strive to save everyone trapped in a fire. Once we have humans afe and fire controled we can go into a fire scene and rescue pets. We do our very best to save any animals we may find. Thank you for sharing this video

Between the 3 clubs, Greater Baltimore, Colonial Annapolis, and Monterey
Peninsula, we were able to purchase 15 masks which, combined with the CFA
match will provide us with 30 sets of masks for the fire departments in our
area. The Baltimore Fire Department was glad to get them and with hopes never to use the oxygen masks. Firefighters, Paramedics and EMT are part of the community that really never gets the recognition it deserves. They are our unsung heroes. God Bless them all and keep them safe.
