Twin Pandas Born
For animal lovers who admire the Giant Panda, and enjoy a bit of trivia, the Latin name for this adorable bear in the Ursidae family is Ailuropoda Melanoleuca. The English translation is, “black-and-white cat-foot." No wonder I have always been attracted to these delightful furry critters.
The Panda wears distinctive large black patches around their eyes, and black ears. Black markings adorn its cobby body, as well. Once thought to be part of the raccoon family, it was later learned that was not the case. While belonging to the Carnivora family, their diet consists of 99% bamboo. Although generally considered to have a restrictive diet consisting only of bamboo, if honey, shrub leaves, eggs, fish, yams, bananas and oranges are easily attainable, the Giant Pandas will feed on them with gusto.
The national emblem of China has historically been the dragon. However, in recent years the Giant Panda has become an emblem for the country. Apparently as the Chinese team and individual Olympic competition has been so dramatically successful, perhaps the Giant Panda heralded their good fortune
On the second day of the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China was thrilled to announce the birth of twin Giant Panda babies. The national emblem of China has historically been the dragon. In recent years, however, the Giant Panda has also become an emblem for the Country, since the Giant Panda are considered ”good luck" symbols. I wonder if their timely delivery heralded the Chinese team's good fortune as they took the lion's share of the gold.

These little creatures always amaze me. When they are born they don't look anything like a Panda. But as they start to grow and develope the changes are so dramatic. Nature is just so amazing.

I don't know if their birth is a coincidence or not but 3 cheers for Mother Nature. I loved seeing the last cub born on the web cam as he grew and matured. Animals are wonderful...a lot of people could learn from them. Thanks for the great video Jo!
