Cat Cafe
For a dyed in the wool cat lover, traveling, whether on vacation or a business trip without a beloved cat in tow is something that is to be avoided at all cost.
A couple of years ago, my husband and I took a much needed and well-deserved trip to Jamaica, W.I. Since Jamaica has strict quarantine rules for animals entering the country, there was no way we could even consider bringing one of our cats with us. If it were not for a few tourist-friendly kitties who earned their living working the crowd for handouts from guests in the hotel, I would have been considerably grumpy without my daily feline fix. These delightful denizens kept me sane.
However, had I known about the Cat Cafe Calico, which Tokyo has provided for their feline fanatics, I might have changed our travel plans. According to Reuters, three of these cafes have opened for local residents and visitors who crave the company of a cat or two. . or . . . three. These cafes provide visitors with a cup of tea and the opportunity to mingle with their resident kitties. Approximately 70 cat lovers visit cat Cafe Calico’s 14 cats in residence during the week, which doubles over the weekends.

Cat Cafe Calico
The Cat Cafe owners' mission is providing cat lovers the chance to take some time out of their work-a-day doldrums to relax and enjoy a couple of hours with the cats who love the attention. This is a win-win oppurrtunity, don't you think?
I wish I had been aware about this ingeniously designed feline oriented attraction, before we visited Jamaica. While my heart always beats a little faster when I remember Negril, the Tokyo tabbies might have been just the ticket for a fascinating journey. Traveling a long distance to visit a city, which is rich in its history and culture and at the same time, its cats, I think, is heavenly.
Therefore, for you cat loving travel fans who may be considering a visit to Japan, why not plan to include the Cat Cafe Calico in Tokyo on your itinerary.

I love that there are places in the world that cater so nicely to cats. What a great idea. Wish they would start several of these cafes in the US. Maybe someone will get the idea and open a few. I bet they would get a lot of business.

Wow...talk about relaxing in style...does each cat(s) have their own room to keep squabbles down? BTW, no problems at all accessing the blog!

What a interesting concept. It is nice to know that felines are respected and well cared for.

I think that the Cat Cafe is a great idea. I sure miss my kids when I have to be away. The only trip I do make where I am not cat deprived is to my sister's home. She has several beautiful Maine Coons and a large goofy dog.

I travel to Chicago, by car from Maryland, each year with my two dogs. I can't imagine gong on my yearly trip without them. I also think that the staff at what use to be the Radisson and now is called The Avenue hotel in Chicago wouldnât let me in without my furry companions. I have to leave my 18-year-old cat home. She won't "travel" out of the bedroom. I'd love to find a Cat Cafe in Chicago!

This is a really neat idea. They should have more facilities around for cats and dogs. It is sometimes hard to travel because of our fur friends, and this would make it a lot easier.

Just a charming article! We should all have such a place of rest...LOL

Now that seems like fun. They need a cafe for doggies too. I know I would be torn between the two and would have to go to both!
