The number of homeless pets in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, continues to swell as more animals arrive at emergency shelters. Twenty-eight animals left homeless by floods in the Midwest arrived at their new home in Washington, DC on Tuesday morning.

The Washington Animal Rescue League made the 40-hour round trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to pick up 19 cats and nine dogs from a temporary shelter set up by the Humane Society of the United States at at Kirkwood Community College.
