Misery
I was out in the back yard, taking advantage of the sunny weather and snapping a few photos for my upcoming book. Sumner, Mr. Camera Hog, saw me putting up the white backdrop and assumed that he was going to be the star of the show, as always. Then he saw me pulling out some of his all-time favorite toys and got really excited.
“Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about. She’s going to give me cheese to sit there and model, and I get to play with those awesome toys. Bring it on.”
I broke it to him gently.
“Aw, Sum, I’m sorry,” I told him, “Not today, Bud. This isn’t for you. Next time.”
He slinked off and assumed a miserable pose on the patio:

“This is the worst day of my life.”
