Petside Items: Cloning: More of the Same?

Back in April we talked about the Korean unveiling of six , cloned, male Labrador Retrievers . They are set for a vocation sniffing suitcase violators at the Korean Airports.

While today's news out of San Francisco has to do with cloning dogs, there seems to be some confusion about the buzz.

As stated, cloning a dog is not really anything new, and California is not the first -- it's the purpose that is causing controversy.

In Cali, while scientists have certainly made their own sets of documentation and observances, the primary goal of this biotech company, BioArts International, is that it will clone dogs for the five highest bidders...starting at $100,000 in a series of online auctions.

I can't help thinking that this the return of Shangri La and the human quest for eternal youth? I'm certain there's a cloning script circulating Hollywood right about now.

But back to Korea, and what some might say is the more ethical purpose behind cloning...now they're making strides with a 'cancer-sniffing' dog...yes, that's a dog who can detect cancer cells in a human. They are working on cloning this intriguing canine.

Apparently 'tis still the season. Unusually, many people I know are still sneezing and itchy-eyed due to what would normally be considered UN-seasonal allergies as the trees have mostly completed their bloom cycle. Anew report still holds up the claim that early exposure to cats is a preventative measure towards asthma and adult-life allergies.

I don't know, I do have allergies, but aaaw, I sure did love my little white-pawed cat Whiskey...
