America’s Next Top Dog Breed

Quick, what’s the most popular dog breed in US?
You guessed it; the ubiquitous Labrador Retriever. The Lab has been #1 on the AKC “most popular” list since 1991, but I think we’re on the heels of an upset this year.

Last year the Yorkshire Terrier climbed to the #2 spot, beating out longtime favorites the Golden Retriever and the German Shepherd.

I don’t think that the Yorkie will make it to #1, but I have a feeling that the Golden might leap ahead and end the Lab’s 15-year reign. Why? It’s just a feeling. Go with me.
Lab lovers, what do you think – are you ready to give up the crown?
