Going Once, Going Twice
I recently volunteered at a silent auction that benefited the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. A local jeweler sponsored the event, so between the fancy gems up for bid and adorable animal attendees, this bling-loving dog trainer was in heaven!
Handsome Cocoa, an 8-year-old Chihuahua, strutted his stuff in a cashmere argyle sweater and glittery flower necklace.
Yes. A flower. You got a problem with that?
Didn’t think so.
Cocoa opted to hang back and let his sister Gigi be the star of the evening.
She danced:
She dazzled in diamonds and pearls:
And she tearfully accepted her crown:
Have I mentioned that I play for both teams? Yes, I’m bi-petual. Although I’m a dog lover by definition, I have a fair share of cat worship within me as well. This little sweetie could have brought me to the other side for good:
Grisham is a five-month old cat from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria who is currently seeking his forever home. I have no clue why he’s still in the shelter … the guy is perfection! Sure, he’s handsome:
But he’s also incredibly outgoing and sweet. And his purr-box is stuck in the “on” position.

He ended up selecting a Blue Stone 3.45ct Iolite Diamond necklace. I think it suits him. Even shelter cats deserve some sparkle:
I’m not sure who is picking up the $4,060.00 tab, though.
A good time was had by all, and we ended the evening with an interspecies kiss good-night:
