To Sleep...Perchance to ...Snore???
Reading always makes me sleepy
I suppose I should have trained them from the start. But it's too late now. Mi casa es los gatos' casa. They have access everywhere, including the bedrooms. And, since all three can open doors, some nights are better than others. Last night was a bad one. McDuff was restless, and after having a snack, and wandering around the house for awhile, having another snack, and walking in and out of the bedroom a dozen times, and having yet another snack, he jumped on my pillow, stared down at me until I put the lights on, and pushed some books my way, insisting I read to him..
McDuff's favorites, Dr. Seuss, Thurber's Dogs, and A Collection of Cat Stories
So I did. First, we read his favorite, Dr. Seuss' One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Then we read a bit of Thurber's Dogs, some stories from a Cat Collection Book, and a few Rachel Ray recipes. Finally, those big yellow eyes, haws included, closed. But then, my nightmare began. I couldn't get to sleep for beans. And not for lack of trying. See, McDuff snores, and not just a soft in and out breathing sound, but a humongous boom of an exhalation, a cross between a jumbo jet and an Amtrack train in Dolby Surround Sound.
I put in my earplugs. No good. I moved him to the end of the bed. Still deafening. Then I covered him with the other cats, and put my sound machine on high. I could still hear him. As a last resort, I had to get up and move him to the cat condo.

I'm hoping tonight McDuff will catch his zees on his stomach. Meantime, I'm thinking of getting him one of those sleep apnea machines that look like an elephant's nose. Do they have them for cats?
