Is Grape Jelly Toxic to Dogs?

Q: I've been reading that grapes can be toxic to dogs. Can grape jelly also be toxic, or does the process of making jelly get rid of whatever is toxic in grapes?

A: You are correct in that grapes (and raisins) can be toxic to dogs. Unfortunately, the toxic component has not yet been identified but we do know that the flesh part of the grapes is toxic. We also know that in order for grapes to be toxic to a dog, a certain amount must be ingested. For these reasons I would recommend staying clear of anything grape flavored.
