Should I be concerned about the lump on my dogs chest?
Q: Our Yorkie has a soft mass on his chest. A doctor friend said it is probably a non-cancerous fatty tumor. Should we be concerned about this?
A: You should take your dog to the vet as soon as you can as it could be cancerous. To put your mind at ease your veterinarian can perform a fine needle aspirate of the lump right in the exam room. This is quick and easy and doesn't require sedation. A slide of the cells from the lump can be sent to a pathologist who can give you an answer!
