Do Dogs Get Bored of the Same Food
Q: Is it a good idea to change dry dog food every so often to combat boredom or is it better to feed the same dry dog food all of their life?
A: While it is possible that dogs may get bored with their food it is not a good idea to change their food frequently. Food changed in pets can cause stomach upset and diarrhea. If you are going to change a food your pet should be gradually weaned over the course of 5-7 days. If you want to supplement your pets' dry food you can try adding a canned version made by the same company.

I find it helpful to switch up the flavor of the food, but within the same brand and type. For example, I use Purina One, but I'll vary from the chicken and rice one month to lamb the next--just changing the main ingredient, both of which I know are safe for my dog.
