Doggie DNA Test

There's exciting news for mixed breed pet owners around the country. A new DNA test for mixed breed canines is now available nationwide. The Wisdom Panel MX DNA test, manufactured by MARS Veterinary, detects more than 130 breeds. Currently, this DNA test can detect significantly more breeds than others on the market. It also determines how much of each breed is present in a mixed breed dog.

Developed by two of the nations leading veterinarians, Doctors Marty Becker and Neale Fretwell, the Wisdom Panel MX test is the most comprehensive DNA test on the market and a valuable tool for mixed-breed pet owners.

About half of America's canine population is made up of more than one breed. By knowing a dog's genetic make up, owners and veterinarians will have valuable information about a dog's unknown background, allowing them to better care for the pet.

How It Works

How to Get the Test

The test is available online at www.whatsmydog.com/buy or through your veterinarian. It costs $124.99, however this price does not include the cost of having your veterinarian draw a blood sample. Once you mail you dog's blood sample back to the company's lab, it generally takes 3-4 weeks for your results. The results are fully customized and give a comprehensive look into your dog's genetic make up, appearance, behavior and traits that may be displayed.
