Q: Why Does Cat Drag Hiney on Carpet?

Q: My female cat drags her hiney on the carpet. She's an indoor cat and doesn't have worms. Why is she doing this?

A: It sounds like her anal sacs may be bothering her. Many people notice their dogs doing this but cats have anal sacs too! Basically, there are two small sacs located just inside the rectum. The sacs are lined with glands that secrete a thick material which may not come on its own. Your veterinarian can empty these sacs for you!
