The Folklore

Centuries ago in rural Ireland, holy wells were dug in order to bury people who had gained significant status.  It is believed medicine men and religious leaders were some of the few afforded this high honor.  Excavation digs have found the bones of Irish Setters in among those of high status and it is believed that Setters held a high place because of their ability to find and retrieve food.
