The Siamese Cat Breed

The Siamese cat breed may be one of the most known and recognized cat breeds in the world. In fact, there are Siamese roots in many other popular cat breeds, including the Ocicat, Burmese, Snowshoe, and many others. The physical characteristics of Siamese cats make them easily recognizable:

Siamese cats have small, sleek heads, large ears, and narrow bodies and tails.

They have blue eyes and "points" of color on ears, feet, muzzle, and tail.

Siamese males can reach 15 pounds, while females are usually 8 to 12 pounds.

Siamese cats are extremely agile and lean, and enjoy a high amount of activity.

Siamese cats are known for their vocal yowls and incessant talking. They crave human attention and interaction. Siamese cats don't like to be alone, so if you are prone to travel or long days at the office, consider getting two Siamese so they can keep each other company.

do siamese cats get along with puppies?

Mila Hanousek; October 6, 2009 10:00 PM

YES!! They do get along with anybody. I had 2 siamese cats (now I have 3rd); and we always had a dog, or two.. But you have to LOVE your siamese and be her main person (I mean, you have to show her more affection than to the dog, do not!! ignore her if you are her mom!!). I am a cat person, so that's not a problem for me, but my husband prefers dogs, and our "girls" do love each other and miss each other when separated. There is nothing more peaceful than seeing them snuggled together and watching them play (yes, the dog sometimes takes Maxine's head in her mouth and wipes the floor with her!! the first time it happened I just about freaked out!!, but the cat loved the attention and was obviously OK with it, since she has her claws (I would never, ever again have my cat declawed!). Besides, if she did not like it, she would let the dog know and escape!! And the dog washes Maxine's ears while Maxine washes Samantha's eyes. The cat stalks and "attacks" our cocker spaniel Samantha any chance she gets (and I laugh happily and quietly so my husband does not see me!. Our cocker is 2 and 1/2 old and Max(ine)is 1 and 1/2 old. Your siamese WILL talk to you, just talk to her all the time and she will answer. She will retrieve a ball, or any toys you toss her. Mine brings me stuf to bed, when I want to sleep; once she brought all the pens from the cup by the telephone downstairs-ONE by ONE! Other day she managed to get in my purse and was bringing me all the stuf from it, piece by piece!! What fun!! I can't get mad at her, I love her too much!! I toss some of the things back to her and when I have enough, I put it under the pillow and than she sleeps in my arms with her head on my shoulder and we hold "hands" while falling asleep!! So do not worry, get your siamese cat, they are smarter than dogs (and many people I know, as a matter of fact!!)If you want to hear more, send me e-mail. I would love to hear from you and share all the stories about your babies.
